Light Indicates when the handset rings, is in use or, if the handset battery needs recharging, see page 8. Screen/Menu and Secrecy/Music on hold button Allows you to access the answering machine menu, see page 28. [. . . ] The prompt will announce either: ·"Answer on, your outgoing message is. . . To check or play your outgoing message via the handset
Pick up the handset.

To select your outgoing messages via the base unit
Press and hold the ANSWER ON/OFF button until you hear, "Please select outgoing message", then release the button. Either

To delete your own outgoing message and re-instate the pre-recorded outgoing message via the base unit
You can delete your personalised outgoing message and return to your Freestyle 65's pre-recorded outgoing message. Whilst your selected outgoing message is playing press the DELETE button on the base unit. The message will stop playing and you will hear a short beep, then the default pre-recorded outgoing message.
To delete your own outgoing message and re-instate the pre-recorded outgoing message via the handset
Pick up the handset.

Press the SCREEN/MENU button. The prompt will announce, "To play outgoing message, press 2". To play the currently selected outgoing message that you wish to replace. Whilst your outgoing message is being played you will hear a confirmation beep, followed by the voice prompt announcing the default pre-recorded outgoing message.

To pause a message during playback
While listening to the message, press the PLAY button.
To playback messages
Press the PLAY button. Your message(s) will be played back, starting with the first message received. The message number will also be shown on the base unit display.
The message will be paused. You will hear a beep every 10 seconds and the message display will show P flashing. Press the PLAY button again to resume playback.

To skip forward and backward through messages (including fast forward playback)

To delete all messages
Press the SKIP button to skip forwards to the next message. If you press and hold the SKIP button the current message will be played at 11/2 times the speed (fast forward playback). Press again to return to the start of the previous message.
When all messages have been played the prompt will announce, "End of messages. The display counts down from 8 -0.

During the countdown press the red DELETE button and the prompt will announce, "All messages deleted". [. . . ] · You have dialling tone but the telephone will not dial out.
Possible cause
Handset not registered.
Solution
Register the handset, see page 35.
Handset has not been assigned an identity number. You are connected to a PBX and are not dialling the access code.
Please see page 36 to assign a handset number. See page 40 for more information on switchboard use.
· Base unit does not ring but lights show on base unit.
Telephone is not connected to the telephone line. The base ringer is set to off.
