Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.
[. . . ] Failure to clean and lubricate the spray gun after use will result in the failure of the gun. It is recommended that an RCD (residual current device) rated at 30mA is fitted into the mains supply socket for added protection against electric shock. Guard against electric shock - Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces (e. g. Keep children away - Do not let visitors touch the tool or extension cord. [. . . ] This can increase the volume of air drops of oil to the piston after approximately every 4 in the paint, thereby reducing the effectiveness of the litres of material sprayed. If the spray pattern becomes lop-sided clean the spray nozzle and valve spray gun. The ASG55 is a highly versatile electric airless spray gun, it can be used with several different spray mediums including, varnishes, wood treatments, enamel paint, oil and water based paints. Airless spraying reduces the mist associated with air spraying and also reduces paint loss. A number of applications can be performed including spraying fences, sheds, boats, furniture, radiators, models, louvre doors etc.
THINNING
Thinning is particularly important when spraying. Most paints etc are supplied ready for brush application and need to be diluted sufficiently for spraying purposes. Follow the manufacturers guide for thinning in conjunction with a spray gun. The viscosity cup supplied will help you determine the correct thickness of the paint. As some paints, wood preservatives and other sprayable materials contain particles and have 3
OPERATION
SPRAYING TECHNIQUE
Turn the gun upside down and place a few drops of 1. To obtain the best results always keep your spray lubricating oil in both the apertures on the underside gun level and spray equally from side to side or up of the gun (see Fig. 8, Page 5). Connect to mains and and down 25-30cm (10"-12") from the surface. momentarily trigger the spray gun to disperse the oil Avoid spraying at an angle as this will lead to runs around the piston and cylinder, then disconnect the on the surface (Fig. 5A). Let your arm control the left to right movement tube into the tapered hole of the raised boss. Fill the rather than your wrist as this will aid even paint container with the paint, filtering the paint through a distribution over the whole area (Fig. 5B). Screw the spray gun on to the container damage the spray gun (Fig. 5C). Ensure the spray nozzle and clamping knob are hand tightened before use. Plug in the unit and before you start depress switch fully, aiming the gun at a piece of cardboard or newspaper until the paint comes out. Adjust the output control knob on the back accordingly to control the volume of paint that you wish to apply (Fig. 2). A poor spray pattern will concentrate the paint in the centre of the spray and give a blotchy finish. A good spray pattern is achieved when there is an even amount of material in a fine spray throughout the pattern.
USING THE OUTPUT CONTROL KNOB
Turning the output control knob clockwise reduces the flow of material whilst turning it anti-clockwise increases the flow. Pull the trigger and test the pattern on a piece of cardboard or newspaper. Turn the output control knob clockwise from the maximum position until the spray pattern is correct. [. . . ] As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of the unit may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows; The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black. The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.
WARNING - If you are using an extension lead, it must be rated at a minimum of 6 amps and fully unwound. Do not operate with a lead rated at less than 6 amps as this will cause premature failure of the motor and will void your guarantee. Failure to follow the cleaning instructions will cause premature failure of the spray gun and could render the guarantee null & void. [. . . ]
