Hot water E To prepare hot water, either attach the
hot-water nozzle or the 2-stage frothing nozzle to the Connector System©.
E You can continue to prepare steam for the
next 40 seconds or so without the machine having to heat up again. To make sure the 2-stage frothing nozzle always works properly, it should be rinsed regularly (see Chapter 5 `Maintenance Dismantle and rinse the 2-stage frothing nozzle').
J CAUTION
There is a danger of scalding from hot water splashes. y T Turn the switch clockwise when there is sufficient water in the cup.

Daily operation
E When the ENA is switched off with the
On/Off button, the machine consumes less than 0. 01 W of standby energy.
Switching on the machine
When the ENA is switched on, a prompt to perform a rinse operation automatically appears. Q T Press the On/Off button to switch the ENA on.
T Place a receptacle under the coffee spout. RINSING, the system rinses itself, stopping automatically.

READY Daily maintenance
To ensure that you get many years of reliable service out of your ENA and to guarantee the optimum coffee quality, the machine requires daily maintenance. T Empty the coffee grounds container and drip tray and rinse with warm water. T Dismantle and rinse the cappuccino frother (see Chapter 5 `Maintenance Rinsing the cappuccino frother'). T Wipe the surface of the machine with a clean, soft, damp cloth (e. g. microfibre cloth).

Permanent settings in programming mode always follow the same model. Example: Permanently change the coffee strength (FLAVOUR) for 1 coffee from NORMAL to
STRONG.
Precondition: READY is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item.
SELECT BUTTON E Next select the button of the product for
which you would like to make settings. E To change the setting for a double product, press the corresponding button twice within two seconds. > T Press the Coffee button.
Switching off the machine
When the ENA is switched off, the system is automatically rinsed if a coffee speciality has been prepared. The ENA is switched off.

g T Turn the Rotary Switch until EXIT is displayed. k T Press the Rotary Switch to exit the programme item.

READY Automatic switch-off
By instructing your ENA to automatically switch itself off, you can cut down your energy consumption. If this function is activated, your ENA switches off automatically after the preset time following the last action on the machine. You can set the automatic switch-off to 15 minutes, 0. 5 15 hours, or inactive. [. . . ] You cannot prepare any products.

Troubleshooting
Cause/Result
The cappuccino frother is dirty.
Problem
Insufficient foam is produced when the milk is frothed or milk sprays from the cappuccino frother. Water hardness cannot be adjusted.
Action
T Clean the cappuccino frother (see Chapter 5 `Maintenance Cleaning the cappuccino frother').

Coffee or preground coffee has been ground too finely and is blocking the system. The connector of the cappuccino frother may be blocked by milk residues or limescale fragments loosened during descaling.
T Set the grinder to a coarser setting or use coarser preground coffee (see Chapter 1 `Preparing and using for the first time Adjusting the grinder'). T Descale the water tank .
FILL WATER TANK
