File Naming Conventions
WordScan names documents according to the name you specify in the Save As dialog box. Here are some situations where the name may be shortened:
Y Y
Image files Documents split on blank pages
When your document includes graphics, the file name is not affected. Text files that have been split by the use of Split on Blank are named according to the following rules: abcdenn. ext or abcdennx. ext where: abcde nn is the first five characters of the file name you specified. is a number indicating the page on which the image originally appeared or the job number of a document in a list that was split. is a number indicating the page on which the image originally appeared and x is a letter A through Z that denotes the number (1 through 26) of a graphic zone. For example, the document CALERA has a TIF image on the first page (page "01") and the image is the third one defined on the page. ext is the three character DOS file name extension for the selected file format (for example, . PCX, . TIF, or . PDA).
nnx
If your original document contains more than 99 pages, the file name is shortened even more to allow room for the additional digit(s).

Chapter 3: Using WordScan & Window Descriptions
For graphic files only, if you specified more than one graphic zone per page, a letter (A to Z, where A equals 1 and Z equals 26) is appended to the end of the file name indicating the order in which the graphic was captured (file names are shortened accordingly). For example, if a document named ARTICLE had three sections separated by blank pages as well as two graphics on the fifth page of the stack, WordScan would create the following files: ARTICL01. DOC ARTICL02. DOC ARTICL03. DOC ARTIC05A. TIF ARTIC05B. TIF The first three files contain the text from the three sections separated by blank pages. (The extensions may be different depending on which image format you chose. )
